Bacon Flan

Ingredients

       
  • One pie crust dough
       
  • 125g (4 oz) bacon diced
       
  • 75g (3 oz)Cheddar cheese, shredded
       
  • 1 egg
       
  • 1 egg yolk
       
  • 150 ml (5 fl oz) cream
       
  • salt and pepper


Instructions

1. Roll out pastry on a lightly floured surface and use to line a 20 cm (8 inch) flan tin. Prick bottom with a fork and chill for 20 minutes.
2. Bake the flan at 200-degrees C (400-degrees F) until golden brown.
3 Fry the bacon till crispy. Scatter the bacon on base of flan.
4. Beat the egg and egg white into the cream and season with salt and pepper. Pour cream mixture into the pastry case, and bake the flan 30 minutes, until set and golden. Serve warm or cold.
